Since 2011, Lamborn’s campaign has paid his wife, Jean, and her company, Triple Star Services LLC, more than $100,000 for bookkeeping, accounting, campaign management, and strategic fundraising. While having a family member function as a paid staffer is technically allowed by the Federal Election Commission, it is still considered a questionable practice that many discourage.

As the Denver Post reports, paying family members to participate as a staffer is a fairly common practice, but it is not common to have the family member function as one of the top, highest paid employees on the campaigns. This primarily brings up the issue of nepotism in politics and Lamborn’s continued participation in questionable practices.

  1. Pretty good for a mediocre artist. Reminds me of her volunteering to ‘paint’ a very amateurish Antelope at Antelope Elementary School years ago. Principal was really surprised when Jeanie submitted a bill for the painting.
